The former Governor of the State of Osun and the current Minister of the Navy and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, have formally announced that he is not contested in the elections of the Governorate of 2026 in the State.
Oyetola made this disclosure in a meeting of all the Stakeholders of the Progressives Congress (APC) held in Osogbo on Friday, stating that his decision was in the interest of the party unit and strategic positioning before the surveys.
The former governor, who ruled the state of Osun between 2018 and 2022 before losing the re -election with the governor Ademola Adeleke of the Democratic Party of people (PDP), however, said that the recovery of the state for the APC was “non -negotiable”.
“I will not run to the elections of the Governorate of 2026. Our party is blessed with competent and visionary leaders with excellent tracks that can guide the state of Osun. My goal is to ensure that APC returns to power and I will work tirelessly towards this goal,” said Oyetola.
He urged all the aspiring aspects for the APC ticket to avoid campaigns, divisiveness or bitterness of bitterness. He stressed that only unity and discipline could offer victory for the party.
“This is not the moment of the policy of acrimony. Let’s focus on the wider picture, which examined Osun by the misimentation of PDP. Any aspiring that fosters the internal crisis is working indirectly against the party,” he warned.
Oyetola also rejected the concerns about the recent coalition interviews against President Bola Tinubu, describing the movements as unstable and basic support support.
“The so -called coalition is already falter. It is the same group that has gone from above to Omoluabi and now Adc. It does not represent a threat to APC, especially in Osun,” he said.
He praised the members of the APC throughout Osun for their resilience from the party’s loss of 2022, urging them to mobilize massively for the recording exercise of continuous voters (CVR) and be sure to collect their permanent electoral cards (PVC).
“The victory to the poll begins with the recording of the voters. We take this seriously. It is our gateway to recover Osun,” he added.
