Trump established an ultimatum 10-12 days for Putin to start the Ukraine Cedariacity Talks

In a brave diplomatic step, US President Donald Trump has issued a public ultimatum to Russian President Vladimir Putin, set a deadline of 10 to 12 days for Kremlin to start peace negotiations over the war in Ukraine.

Trump made an announcement during a joint performance with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer who was just chosen while visiting Scotland. Standing next to Starmer at a press conference, Trump hinted a new urgency to reduce the ongoing conflict, saying:
“There is no reason to wait.”

The US President, who consistently said he would end the war quickly if given the opportunity, emphasizing that the time for diplomacy now, not later.

Pressured by reporters about the specific plan, Trump stated: “I will make a new deadline about 10 or 12 days from today.”

Although the details of the proposed negotiation framework are still unclear, Trump’s comments show dramatic changes in the approach of the previous efforts under his reign and the previous US leadership.

His statement emerged amid increasing global pressure for a ceasefire during the war in Ukraine rolled into another deadly year without a clear resolution. Analysts said Trump’s steps were as political as strategic, positioning himself as a maker of an agreement that could complete the crisis that had challenged international diplomacy for more than two years.

It still needs to be seen how Kremlin will respond to Trump’s time line – or if the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy will welcome the sudden encouragement for the conversation from Washington.
