The Nigerian women’s basketball team, D’W Ivress has been valued by the President of the Tinubu Bola after their victory at FIBA Afrobasket 2025 which was held at Cote D’AVoire.
Nigerian women were held by the President on Monday after their victory over Mali in the championship final on Sunday.
The team, led by coach Rena Wakama, came from behind to defeat Mali 78-64 to win the fifth title in a row and seven as a whole.
President Tinubu gave the Order of the National Award Niger (OON) about the players and the winning team coach at the reception on Monday.

Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, also promised each $ 100,000 player (equivalent to Naira) and each coach gets $ 50,000.
The players and coaches will also get one apartment each, a similar movement shown to the Women’s Football Team, Super Falcons after their victory over the African Nation Cup (Wafcon)
Shettima praised D’Mrress for their extraordinary achievements, describing them as “Nigerian ambassadors” and praised their discipline, consistency, and patriotic spirit.
The ceremony was attended by several main officials, including the Chief of Staff for President Femi Gbajabiamila, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on the Development of Youth and Sports Garba Maidoki, and the Chairperson of the DPR Committee in Kabiru Amadou.
