Dr Doyin Abiola: the exit of a Titan of the media

The former CEO of National Concord and wife of the deceased chief Mko Abiola, dr. Doyin Abioa is dead.

On Tuesday, a renowned journalist and passionate about average, went to Tuesday at 9:15 pm in a short period of illness, at the age of 82.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in a statement that has personally signed, expressed sadness for the news of his disappearance.

The president described Dr. Abiola such as Amazon, Trailblazer Media and Soldier of Democracy.

The complete declaration law in Estenso:

Goodnight, Doyin Abiola, Media Trailblazer, Soldier of Democracy – President Tinubu

I received the news with profound sadness at the beginning of the disappearance of Dr. Doyinsola Hamidat Abiola, journalist, publisher, and former CEO of the deceased group of newspapers Concord and wife of the deceased Bashorun Mko Abiola.

Doyin Abiola, 82 years old, was an Amazon and an icon in Nigerian journalism. He remained during journalism course since he started as a journalist with the late daily sketch after graduating from the University of Ibadan in 1969, specializing in English and dramatic.

He broke the genre barrier, becoming the first woman to modify a national newspaper and the first CEO of a daily newspaper.

His immense contribution to journalism and gender equity has laid a basis for generations of women. His impact on our democracy was even deeper.

Doyin has embodied integrity, tenacity, hard work, commitment to excellence and dedication to good public government and good democratic government.

In 1980, it emerged as a National Concord publishing pioneer owned by the late Mko Abiola. He later became CEO and chief editor of all the concord titles, including the foundation of the Weekend Concord, which has set new standards to make people at the center of the reports.

I had a good relationship with the deceased Doyin, which derived from my close relationship with the late Mko Abiola.

As Mko’s wife, Doyin met politics and was very interested in, especially when her husband ran for the country’s presidency in 1993.

He played a leading role in the Mko elections, mobilizing and providing indications for the media under his control.

And when the elections of June 12, won by her husband, were canceled, did not stand out. Despite the military junta that closed the Concord group, he also joined the fray, asking for the validation of the elections. He was a soldier of democracy in its own right.

The Nigerians will never forget the leadership of Doyin Abiola during his illustrious career of journalism, his female empowerment supported and his commitment for democracy.

I commissioned with the families of Abioba and Abaaba, his only daughter, Doyinsola, the government and the people of the states of Lagos and Ogun.

May his soul rest in peace. May this nation be blessed with more women of the caliber and pedigree of Doyin Abiola.
