The former transport minister, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, said he was confident of defeating President Bola Tinubu in the presidential elections of 2027 if he emerged as a candidate for the African democratic congress (ADC).

Speaking during a conversation of X Spaces on Saturday, Amaechi rejected the electoral riging accusations against him, insisting on the fact that he had never been involved in electoral negligence and had constantly rejected the offers to serve the electoral planning committees of all progressives (APC).

“I have never contested against Tinubu, but I know his strengths and weaknesses.

“If I receive the ADC ticket, I will defeat it,” he said.

“I challenge any politician, living or dead, to demonstrate that I took part in Rigging.

“I will apologize if there is evidence.”

Amaechi has accused some politicians of using state governors and government agencies to divert public funds for the elections, adding that he would have expressed these practices if he had obtained the party’s presidential ticket.

He promised to lead a clean campaign and undertook to end the electoral fraud if elected president.

The former governor of the state of the rivers also recognized that the candidate of the Labor party, Peter Obi, won in the rivers during the 2023 elections, although the final results did not reflect this result.

Amaechi had previously declared on 3 July that he would have served only a mandate if elected president in 2027, stating that this would have allowed the rotation of power between the North and the South in line with the political agreement of Nigeria.
