Tinubu appoints Idris Olorunnimbe President of NCC, preserves …

President Tinubu appointed Idris Olorunnimbe as president of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), while dr. Aminu Maida will continue as an executive vice president and CEO.

The appointments were contained in a declaration issued on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, special consultant, to the president for information and strategy.

Olorunnimbe, who previously was part of the board of the trustee fund for the state employment of Lagos, where he chaired the committee for the interested parties and the governance, will guide the NCC together with other members just appointed including Abraham Oshidami, executive commissioner, technical services; Rimini Makama, executive commissioner, management of the interested parties; Hajia Maryam Bayi, former director of human capital and administration; With Abdulwahab Lawal (RETD); Senator Lekan Mustafa; Chris Okieor; Princess Orotenere Emiko; and the secretary of the Board of Directors.

The president also approved the establishment of the Council of the Universal Service forecast Fund (USPF), with the Minister of Communications, innovation and the digital economy, dr. Bosun Tijani, as President and Olorunnimbe as vice president.

Other members are Abraham Oshidami; Rimini Makama; Aliyu Edogi Aliyu, representing the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and the Digital Economy; Joseph B Faluyi, representing the Federal Finance Ministry; Auwal Mohammed, representing the federal ministry of the budget and national planning; Uzoma Dozie; Peter Bankole; Abayomi Anthony Okanlawon; Gafar Oluwasegun Quadri; and the secretary of the USPF.

The USPF was established by the Federal Government to achieve national political objectives for universal access and the service to information and communication technologies in rural areas, not served and undergoing Nigeria.
