Kwasu converts the electric petrol vehicles, the hands to Kwara Govt

The Kwara State University (Kwasu), Malete, has divided new land in the innovation of renewable energies with the successful conversion of two petrol vehicles in electric cars, which were officially delivered to the state government on Tuesday.

The vehicles, converted under the supervision of the University Technical Team, were presented to the Ministry of Companies, Innovation and Ilorin technology.

Speaking on behalf of Deputy Chancellor, Prof. Shaykh-Luqman Jimh, president of Kwasu Hold-Co, Prof. Kenneth Adeyemi, described the project as a milestone that would not only promote a greener environment, but would also strengthen the thrust of the state towards sustainable technology.

“This is a proof of the concept that shows Kwara State University’s ability to provide world -class innovation. In addition to reducing carbon emissions, this initiative will reduce costs and increase the local economy,” said Adeyemi.

He assured that multiple vehicles currently subjected to conversion would be delivered before September 2025, underlining that manuals for use and maintenance had been prepared, while the drivers of the vehicles would also have been trained.

Adeymi praised the governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for giving the University of the platform to demonstrate his research skills and practical relevance for society.

Receiving the keys on behalf of the state government, the commissioner for companies, innovation and technology, Damilola Yusuf Adelodun, praised the Kwasu team for what he called “a forward -looking project” which aligns with the commitment of the government to innovation and sustainability.

“This is a step in the right direction. We are proud of Kwasu for guiding this initiative and example for other institutions,” said the commissioner.

The event, frequented by the best officials of the University and Ministry, marked a significant step in Kwara’s ambition to embrace cleaner energy alternatives in government operations.
