The police saved 20 Ghana residents who were traded in Akwa Ibom

Police operations at Akwa Ibom have saved 20 Ghana residents who were traded in the state.

The victims, who were traded from Ghana, were rescued in a complex in the Obio Ethoro Village, the Uyo Regional Government in the state, on Monday.

Spokesman for the State Police Command, Timfon John, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday at UYO.

He said the operation was a collaborative effort after formal requests from Ghana and Interpol police services.

John said: “The victims were rescued from a complex in the village of Obio Etoi, in Uyo, after the operation which was a collaborative effort following formal requests for assistance from Ghana and Interpol police services.

“Act based on credible information, the operator surrounds the building well at around 16:17, on Monday, August 18.

“The attack caused the rescue of 10 men and 10 women (names secret), all of them were confirmed as Ghana citizens.”
