2025 Mining week: the place of reaffirmation of Nigeria in global practice – Minister

The Ministry of Development of Solid Minerals is destined to reposition the mining industry by recognizing the past results even if it designs in the future.

This statement was made on Thursday in Abuja by Minister Dr Dele Alake, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Engr Faruf Yusuf Yabo during a Briefing Print for Herald this year the mining week scheduled for October in Abuja.

This year’s edition marks the tenth anniversary of the event that has been used over the years to show the sector to the outside world.

According to Engr. Yabo, “We want to use this sector to achieve the renewed agenda of the hope of President Bola Tinubu. Our effort is to restless the industry towards sustainability. In this way, the ministry is proud to serve as a guest by reflecting our commitment for the minimum of a committed environment.

He reiterated that the legal framework for the industry has been strengthened using what he defined the best efforts and instruments of the government so that mining can become attractive and be able to actively contribute to the country’s GDP and in the end generate occupations.

Previously, the Director of the IPMT in the Ministry, Esther Udoh, said that Mining Week is a main platform for the parties concerned in the mining sector, stating that the tenth edition underlines the ministry’s commitment to reposition the country’s mining sector.

According to her, “immense opportunities to exploit potential in the sector are presented to us. That’s why interested parties such as academic world, miners, financial institutions, sponsors and media are gathering to make brainstorming on ways forward.”

The president of the Miners Association of Nigeria Dele Ayanleke has declared in the last nine years, the annual event has remained high in the leading conversations that have distinguished the growth and development of the sector.

“The main platform for the incubation of innovative ideas remained that feed sectoral growth and show emerging global technologies and methodologies in mining jurisdiction, the launch of national reference results in our regulatory oversights,” he said.

There have been messages of good will from Vuka Group, PWC Nigeria and Kaduna Mining Development Company and other partners.

The mining week is usually attended by participants of China, South Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, India, Ghana, Drc, Sierra Leone and Egypt.
