The Chamber of the Assembly of the State of Niger has approved a bill that extends the retirement age of academic staff in state institutions from 65 to 70 and professors to 75 years of age.

The president of the Permanent Education Committee, Mohammed Sani Idris, said that the move aligns national standards, helps to keep expert teachers and improves the quality of education in the state.
