Kaduna SDP denies the collapse of the structure into ADC, El-Rufai Rebukes

The Kaduna State Chapter from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has rejected claims by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai that his political structure in the state has collapsed as the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

El-Rufai, along with several opposition leaders, on weekends announced that SDP in Kaduna had joined ADC following what they described as “Strategic Re-Structuring.”

Reacting in a statement on Monday, the Chairperson of the State SDP, Adamu Idris, stated that the party structure remains intact and functional in all states. He described El-Rufai’s statement as a deliberate effort to sow divisions and disrupt the party.

“SDP in the state of Kaduna is strong and alive. We remain focused on strengthening our base and positioning ourselves as credible opposition that speaks to the true aspirations of the Nigerians,” Idris said.

The party further considering that El-Rufai’s short relations with SDP, accused that its presence was marked by a crisis and internal disorders. According to the statement, stability and cohesion were restored in the party after his departure.

In a very strong response, SDP accused the former governor of lack of democratic values, describing it as “a non-democratic, despair of self, fanatics who were not repenting, and tyranny that was conducted.”

The party, however, convinced its supporters that they remained committed to the ideals of democracy, good governance, and unity, while rejecting any efforts to damage their credibility before the election in the future.
