Bafana Bafana coach rules out the threat of Lesotho protest

Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos, has ruled out Lesotho’s threat to play his 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification under protest, labeling him as meaningless.

The secretary general of the Lesotho Football Association, Mokhosi Mohapi, reiterated on Thursday that they will present a protest if the key midfielder of Bafana, Teboho Mokoena, is in the game day of the match.

“I am not used to commenting or reacting to the nonsense and I will not do it here today, thanks,” said Broos (through Times Live) before their players trained in the place of the game to give the final touches to their preparations.

Mohapi said Lesotho Fa believes that Mokoena, who was sent in his last game against Bafana, a 2-0 victory to South Africa in Polokwane in March, when he should have been fulfilling a suspension, he should not play against them on Friday.

This despite the fact that Mokoena has served that suspension of a game late when the game sat after Bafana’s victory against Lesotho, his 2-0 victory against Benin played in Ivory Coast Days later. The matter is also under FIFA review, so Bafana remains in danger of a three -point deduction.

“FIFA has a set of rules and we all have to comply with those rules. Even if that means we must remind someone to do it, we will,” said Mohapi.

“He never stayed out of the game, he was supposed to sit on our game and never did. Even Benin’s game was just a caution and not serve the suspension because they choose and choose where they want to serve [the suspension] Then this soccer thing will be in disorder.

“Even South Africans want to be proud to have won the qualified stages fairly and did not enter through the rear door. I want South Africa to win us fairly, not so that the protection of FIFA moves to the regulations that are linking us. Let it feel now.”
