England has maintained their 100 % record in their qualifying campaign of the World Cup with a 2-0 victory over the Andarra on Saturday, but the uninteresting display did very little to dissuade the doubtful on Thomas Tuchel’s ability to get the best from the team.
The three lions monopolized the ball and the territory, but Andorra proved extremely stubborn opponents while visitors sat in their area and blocked the majority of the survey passages of England and the efforts from inside the area, such as when Max Llovera slipped to block the strike of the goals of Eberechi Eze.
It was appropriate, therefore, that England took the command through a goal while Reece James made the ball slide to Noni Madueke, whose cross was launched by watching by defender Christian Garcia.
This should have opened the doors, but Andorra continued to suffocate England, who were also frustrated by their expensive ending.
In the second half, Marcus Rashford enriched himself on the bar after Eze saved a blow before the debutant otherwise excellent, Elliot Anderson, shot too close to goalkeeper Iker Alvarez.
The pressure of England has finally made a difference and scored again thanks to another inviting cross as a delicious delivery of James found Declan Rice to return home.
But once again, Tuchel’s team was unable to rely on the moment and had to settle for an unkeeded result against a very low level opponent, even if determined.
