A life of service: pensioners of the Ministry of the Interior for an exceptional service

Abuja (reporter core) The Ministry of the Interior has honored the years of service of retirees in appreciation and recognition of their dedication. The permanent secretary, the Ministry of the Interior, Dr. Magdalena Ajani, applauded the meritorious service of retired officers, describing them as “elderly and distinct colleagues who have dedicated decades to the noble call of the public service”.

Speaking at the retirement ceremony held in Abuja, dr. Ajani has extended greetings and best wishes from the honorable interior minister, dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, which is currently on leave. He stressed that the opportunity was not simply a farewell, but a celebration of lives dedicated to supporting the integrity and stability of the public administration of Nigeria.

“It is with profound honor and sincere appreciation that I am in front of you today to deliver this address during a ceremony that indicates both the closure of a work chapter and the dawn of a new start,” he said. “Our pensioners worked tirelessly, responsibilities were held with professionalism, guiding the young officers and left indelible signs on every reform and milestone reached by the Ministry.”

Dr. Ajani highlighted the sacrifices and humility shown by pensioners during their career, observing that their dedication and ethical standard have significantly strengthened the operations of the Ministry of the Interior. He presented signals of appreciation to pensioners on behalf of the Ministry, describing them as emblems of collective gratitude.

He also urged pensioners to embrace rest, spend quality time with their families and continue to serve as civil service ambassadors by sharing their wealth of wisdom and experience with the younger generations. The permanent secretary also encouraged staff to the service to fully exploit the services of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) through their HMO, underlining the importance of enrolling spouses and children under the age of 18 to ensure access to quality health care.

“Also retired, remain part of the history of the ministry. Your contributions will not be forgotten. We wish you joy, good health and realization in this new chapter of your life,” concluded dr. Ajani.

Previously, the director of human resources management, Mrs. Catherine Zosi, welcomed and congratulated the pensioners, encouraging them to be good ambassadors of the Ministry. The director of citizenship and business, Mrs. Okuboere Mukah, advised the children of retirees to take care of their parents and to make sure they live a healthy life in their new phase.

The president of the acting of the joint Union of the Ministry, his partner Mohammed Elabor, appreciated the management and each member of the Ministry of the Interior to honor the retired officers. Comrade Elabor also used the opportunity to recommend the management to give priority to the well -being of staff to bring out the best for the progress of the nation.

The highlight of the event was the cut of the retirement cake by the permanent secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, and pensioners, followed by the presentation of the gifts as a symbol of honor for their meritorious service. The management officers were assigned a 65 “plasma TV, while the level 14 officers and below were presented with a deep freezer.
