The legal year of 2025/2026 of the state judiciary of Ogun was open on Monday with a strong request for justice, equity and peaceful coexistence, as the governor Dapo Inhabitun and Islamic and Christian clerics joined the voices to analyze judicial equity.

The event that took place simultaneously with the Central Mosque of EGBA and the Cathedral of San Pietro, Ake, Abakuta, had prominent personalities.

Keying Keynote’s lesson at the Central Mosque of EGBA, Kobiti, Abeokuta, guest professor and medical director of the Lafiyah Medical Center, dr. Rabiu Adeneye Kusimo, accused the bailiffs of emulating the model of the prophet Muhammad of fatigue and reconciliation in their sentences.

Speaking on the topic “to support a peaceful coexistence in a multi-religious society: the model of the prophet Muhammad”, recalled Kusimo lawyers, magistrates and judges that their roles in the judicial system must reflect their faith and their moral responsibility towards society.

“The legal year is a time for reflection. The real lordship belongs to Allah and Muslim practitioners must see the Koran as a manual also in their area of duty.

Justice itself is insured when the leadership and followers are right in their respective skills, “he said.

He stressed that religion must be at the center of society’s harmony, insisting on the fact that peace and justice are inseparable.

“We should all be reformers, supporters of truth and examples of excellence as the prophet was. His life of equity, reconciliation and humility must inspire judicial officers to dispense justice without fear or favor

Citing historical examples, Kusimo recalled how the prophet Muhammad reconciled the families at war for the positioning of a sacred foundation stone, observing that leaders must learn to avoid conflict through equity and dialogue.

He urged the judges, magistrates and lawyers to “create equal pedestals for both the poor and the powerful” and let their prayers and articles of faith translate into action when they exercise justice.

The governor Dapo Inhabitun, represented by the Commissioner for the local government and the affairs of Chieftancy, Hon. Ganiyu Hazmat, echoed to the request for fairness, saying that justice must be accessible to everyone.

While spoken to the cathedral of Ake, the governor revealed that the state of Ogun had obtained approval to establish his division of the Court of Appeal.

“I am pleased to announce that we have finally received the formal approval for the establishment of the state division of Ogun of the Federal Court of Appeal.

He added that this will facilitate the burden for the people of the State and guarantee an equity of justice closer to the house, “said inhabitu.

The governor reiterated the commitment of his administration in supporting the judiciary through continuous appointed new judges and creating a qualifying environment for an efficient delivery of the judicial service.

In his response, the chief judge of the state of Ogun, the judge Mosunmola Dipeolu, described the approval of the division of the Court of Appeal as a “dream become reality”.

He observed that over 85 percent of Ogun’s appeals had been previously managed in Ibadan, underlining that the new division would reduce congestion and brought relief to both lawyers and the parties involved.

“It was my prayer that the state of Ogun would have his own court of appeal before leaving the assignment. This is an exceptional result that will benefit our people and will save them the stress of constant journey to Ibadan,” said the judge Dipeolu.

In his sermon in the cathedral of San Pietro, Ake, Abakuta, the Anglican Bishop of the diocese of Ijebu-Southwest, Rt. The Rev. Babundde Ogunbanwo, urged the judiciary to remain humble and equally, describing it as the most powerful arm of the government.
