Adamawa The government destroyed 2,000 illegal shops in Yola

Adamawa’s state government has destroyed at least 2,000 illegal stores and attachments in the Jimeta Ultra-Modern market in Yola.

Chairperson of the Market Recovery Committee, Mr. John Juntuwa, revealed this when speaking to journalists about the training that was taking place on Wednesday in Yola.

He said the demolition was part of the steps to restore state capital to the original master plan.

Juntuwa said: “The notice is presented to traders who request an extension seven days after the expiration and given 14 days by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.

“Illegal structure has affected the free movement of customers and vehicles in the market, adding that ongoing exercises will increase market standards and efforts to make income.”

A businessman, Head of Henry Okobieme, appealed to the state government to provide alternative space for affected traders to continue their business.

“Every action taken by the government is to improve the people and not hurt people.

“We urge the government to provide alternative trade space for victims to avoid crime,” he said.
