The pathetic history of debt is synonymous with LAnd so close to the Power House, but left behind in almost everything.

Incredibly, just 15 minutes from the secretariat of the state government of Ogun to Oke-Mosan, Abokuta, there is debd-content of over a million people whose daily life is not defined for opportunities but for abandonment.

The visit of Platform Times revealed that despite being surrounded by important communities such as Gbagura, Efuyee, Dega, Melegun, Molusanya, Agboke and Okoro, Debionre remains trapped in poverty and underdevelopment.

It has been observed that residents live in the shadow of government buildings whose lights can see at night but whose presence do not feel.

“We can see the Oke-Mosan lights from here, but we live in the darkness”, complained of an elderly person, head of Rafiu Adebola Adeboye.

Founded generations ago by a settler that declared “Mo ti de bi mo n re” (I reached where I am going), Debionre is fertile, vibrant and productive. But today I fight with broken infrastructures, lack of schools, absence of healthcare facilities and worsening inhicity.

… agriculture: a giant in the chains

Agriculture is the cardiac beat of debt. The community produces cassava, corn, bananas, plane trees and vegetables that feed the main Abeokuta markets. Women blunt up in Garri who is sold in bulk throughout the state.

But their sweat rarely translates into profit. The roads are almost impractical; In the rainy season, the trucks sink into the mud and the crops rot in the fields.

“We could nourish not only the state of Ogun but also the neighboring states. But how can we, when our harvest cannot leave our farms?” 64 -year -old farmer, Baba Olalekan.

The young people, frustrated by the lack of infrastructure, are abandoning agriculture and migration in urban areas. Agriculture – once the pride of debion – is now transported to the back of the elderly.

… Education: learning under Shadow of Death

The time of the platform can report that the only government elementary school of debt was built largely through common efforts.

The results showed that the classrooms are overcrowded, the desks are broken and only four teachers now fight to teach hundreds of pupils.

Secondary education presents a more fatal challenge. Without a secondary school in the community, children cross the Kobape Busy motorway daily to access schools in nearby cities.

It was collected that during the search for education, several children died in the process.

Mrs. Akinlade, mother of three children, broke into tears while talking to the time of the platform: “AndChima my children cross that road, I hold back my breath. It is like gambling with death. “

For many families, education – the alleged path towards a better life – has become a dangerous bet.

Water, electricity: broken promises

The residents told Platform Times that once a well led hope to debd. But when the pumping machine broke, the dream of clean water collapsed.

According to them, today, our children take water from unsafe watercourses and wells, feeding cheering and cholera outbreaks.

Electricity tells Samand history of treason

The visit of Platform Times to the Community has also revealed that, despite a 33kv electrical line that crosses the community, thousands remain in the dark. An excessive transformer barely serves a fraction of houses.

The chief Adboye, who once donated 10 concrete centers from his personal resources to extend the connections, expressed frustration: “We live in view of the government offices, yet we illuminate the lanterns in the shade of the power lines.”

… health care: when the distance is equal to death

Debionre has no functional health center, only a poorly equipped motherhood place. For complications of childbirth, motorboats or serious diseases, families must go to Abeokuta. He said many do not survive the trip.

A local healthcare professional told Platform Times: “We do our best to deal with the sick, but without equipment, drugs or electricity, our hands are linked. The lives are lost, not because we cannot do without, but because we have nothing to help with.”

… infrastructure, security, connectivity

The debt road network is in ruins. During heavy rains, entire sections of the community are cut, farmers lose income and ambulances cannot reach patients.

Telecommunication is weak; Calls fall frequently, internet connectivity is weak and digital opportunities circumvent the settlement.

The security is fragile, with the only presence of the police which is a place in the Bohari estate several kilometers away. The response times are slow, leaving vulnerable residents to theft and violent attacks.

… culture, identity: faded glory

The Egungun Festival once flourishing debd, known for its masks, the battery and common celebrations, is slowly fading due to economic difficulties and abandonment.

Some of the residents who spoke with the times of the platform complained that what was once a collection point for unity and identity now exists only in memory.

Youth: waiting dreams

The time of the platform have further collected the younger generations of debt that transports great dreams; Becoming doctors, teachers and engineers have their broken dreams as most have never seen a scientific laboratory or a library.

“I want to study engineering,” said Wale Oomojuyi, fifteen years old. “But how can I, when I have never seen a science laboratory in my school?”

The result is a brain escape, with ambitious young people departing for the city. Those left behind remain trapped in poverty.

Political experts and the leaders of the community claim that debion can be transformed into a model rural settlement if the government shows political will. Propose cInsistence of a well -equipped secondary school, rEhability of the rural roads, rEPAIR and maintenance of well systems ecOnnection to a stable power supply.

Other steps proposed to end the suffering of debt residents include; Establishment of a functional health center forRengthening of Security Presence AdrEvival of the cultural festivals to increase tourism and unity.

“We are not asking for luxuries but for life itself,” said the head of the adboye.

The Times platform further reports that the debt tragedy is not a distance but abandonment. It is located on the margins of Abeokuta, in view of the power of the government, but lives as a forgotten outpost.

The cry of the community is simple: water, light, roads, schools and health care.

The question that remains is whether the government will continue to neglect debt or finally to listen.
