Osun Govt raises the alarm on Wale Edun’s graphs to pay the Council’s funds to the Presidents of the Court

The State Government of Osun warned the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, not to have asked the President to approve the release of local government funds held back to the accounts open by the former presidents and councilors of the APC Council (APC) who have already removed from the office.

In a strongly formulated letter signed by Musibau Adventure, San, Councilor for the State, and aimed at the Minister of Finance, the state government expressed concern for the news that the Minister, despite the continuous legal challenges at the Supreme Court, had written to President Bola Tinubu who was looking for approval to pay the approval contested in “illegal accounting” managed by the Brackets.

The letter, entitled: “Still: notification of the slope of the cause n.: SC/CV/773/2025: between the attorney general of Osun State against the general prosecutor of the Federation in relation to the retained fund of the Local Government of Osun and their attempts to destroy their politicians APC.

“It is inconceivable that you ask his excellence, president and commander in the head of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to authorize the release of funds, who are in legal dispute, to these presidents and councilors who accepted in court”, reads the letter. “Instead of looking for an approval to do what is wrong, it is our consultant who uses your office to correctly and faithfully inform the president of the true position of the law.”

“Lord, if it is true that you have actually written to Mr President to approve the payment of the funds of the local government to these presidents and APC directors who accepted the Court before the determination of the dispute between the parties through the division by the Apica Court The absence of the rule of law, lord, what takes control is what nobody wants.

According to the letter, the judgments of both the Federal Court and the Court of Appeal have unequivocally remove the presidents and the councilors of the APC and the sentences remain unchallenged.

The state insisted that the funds detained belong to the people of the 30 councils of the local government of Osun, observing that they are designed for “farmers, market women, teachers, health workers, retirees and children”, not for “politicians who have been legally linked by the courts”.

The state government urged the Minister of Finance to see that local governments in the state of Osun receive the same treatment of their counterparts in the other 35 states that have continued to receive their monthly assignments through their relatives of the local government.

The consultant underlined that the payment procedure in illegal accounts would be equivalent to “a serious assault on the rule of law” and urged the minister to withdraw any letter already written to the president for approval.

“It is known that, to date, the Federation has tens of billions of Naira belonging to the 30 councils of the local government of the State of Osun. These billions, we repeat, are for the well -being of the people … not the money that politicians can be extravagant to appropriate to resolve political members and followers”, added the letter.

Osun’s legal team appealed to the Minister of Finance to “allow the Court to download his duties without obstacles” while the question remains in progress to the Supreme Court.
