Ladoja and characterization of the Ibadan people, of Kehinde …

Today, Ibadan is in turmoil with history while the world converges on one of the largest traditional cities in Africa for the coronation of him. Senator, Oba Rasheed Adventu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of the land of Ibadan. The important opportunity is of great importance not only for Ibadan or the state of Oyo, but also represents a milestone, an altitude in traditional institutions throughout Nigeria.

As a pioneer – The first former governor, former senator and king sitting who made a king, the coronation of the new Olubadan marks a new height in the traditional institution and in real issues. The planned presence of the president and commander in the head of the Nigerian armed forces, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, confers the highest veneration and the national importance for incoronation. This is symptomatic of greater heights for Ibadanland.

With Oba Rasheed Adventu Ladoja, the archetype of Ibadan as Olubadan, is a new chapter for Ibadan as a city. It is clearly a new beginning for the full realization of its vast potential, a time when Ibadan would be better appreciated by the prism of the size. For Ibadan’s indigenous people, it is a moment for a healthier perception, full understanding and appreciation of who we really are. The new Olubadan is not just an Ibadan man, it is Ibadan in all, a mirror of what we are like Ibadan.

With a solid educational and professional background, living a flourishing life without any defect in the last 81 years, the new Olubadan has and projects the best qualities in humanity capable of gaining admiration and respect for the most noble people anywhere in the world.

In my 33 years of close association with the new Olubadan, I saw a man in him, a leader with rare courage, determination, accommodation, sincerity, justice and uncommon love for Ibadan and what the city represents.

In the Senate of the third aborted Republic, Senator Ladoja was among the most respected legislators distinct from his clear understanding of the issues, Mien fresh and collected and speaking only when it was necessary. In many Deadlock points on gnarled issues on the Senate’s floor, the presidents of the Senate, Iyorchia Ayu and Ameh Ebute would have sought his opinion that were mostly useful to break the Logjam.

Exceptionally courageous, typical of a warrior of Ibadan, senator Rasheed Ladoja was at the forefront of the refusal of the provisional national government, an explosive trap later used by the dark man, General Sani Abacha to end the Third Republic. The contributions of Senator Ladoja in that Senate on all aspects of life have been robust and mostly applauded by the Chamber. Ladoja stands out.

Olubadan’s new mandate as a governor of the state of Oyo was remarkable and full of events. Governor Ladoja showed vision, resourcefulness and resilience in governance. Although strongly distracted, Governor Ladoja recorded his gold name as a great promotion of quality education and a larger state of Oyo. The new circular road that takes its name was brought from the ground by the new Olubadan. Please the road is completely completed and commissioned during its kingdom as Olubadan.

Politically, Senator Ladoja is not only cunning, he is a game master. His understanding of the policy of the state of Oyo and Nigeria is legendary. He is an extremely difficult strong -willy man to bend on matters of principle and self -clockwise. It was the first choice of the deceased Bola Ige for the Governor of the State of Oyo in 1998, but decreased in principle. He waited for his time and succeeded the late Alhaji Lam Adhesina in 2003.

Representing the best of a democrat, the 44th Olubadan risked and in the end he lost his position (although temporarily) as a governor of the state of Oyo in defense of democracy, justice and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The then president Olusegun Obasanjo wanted a third term not available, but the warrior of Ibadan, Ladoja, not only did he say no to Obasanjo’s face, but stirred everything and defeated Obasanjo with all his power as seated president.

On the “negative” characterization of Ibadan as butchers and sellers of meat, the new Olubadan once told us that we never feel bad when people call us butchers. First he narrated the courage of Ibadan’s progenitors; As Ibadan’s warriors were the largest and most sophisticated warriors in the country as it was; As Ibadan prevented the only conquest of the land of Yoruba by the devastating Fulani who wanted to take the entire West; As Ibadan’s leaders have made it impossible for strangers to impose foreign titles for our traditional sovereigns; As Ibadan has become the seat of the first television station in Africa, the seat of the first university, the first stadium, first held and so on through our unusual accommodation and hospitality.

Subsequently Oba Ladoja explained the qualities of a successful butcher. The new Olubadan said that a man massacred an entire cow and sell it in parts and pieces, successfully, profitable without any staircase or measurement, the person must be very intelligent, acute and with an excellent business acumen. He said we should be proud to be the people who have taught others the business that requires not only skills but high intelligence. He said that when people cannot combine you in any area, they look for incorrect problems and in all negative stereotypes about Ibadan, mostly made for envy and jealousy, they made everything wrong. We are brave, brilliant, intelligent and sophisticated. Like warriors, all the people who dared our ancestors met their waterloo.

And let me add here that our new Olubadan, he, his imperial Majesty, the senator Oba Rasheed Adventi Akanmu Ladoja, without any army, no weapon, no police have shocked those who also dared.

It is therefore instructive to listen to the advice of the age of Juju without age, King Sunny Hades, in one of his popular albums on Ibadan where he sang: Lo le fi homo Ibadan Sere or, the fi omo ibadan sere o! to fi eni ti or ba you give you or, the fi ome ome ibadan sere o!

The Fuji music icon, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, K1 the last one went beyond praising the qualities of Ibadan’s indigenous people, sworn never to play with any man or woman Ibadan. Laye Mi, Laye Mi, Emi or Le Fi Omo Oluyole Sere!
Ibadan, Ilu Ibikunle, Ilu Ogunmola, ilu adwolu ladoja!
