A friend of the late television anchor, Somochukwu Maduagwu, narrated how the promising journalist lost his life in the aftermath of a robbery attack on his katami residence in Abuja.

According to reports, Maduagwu, called upside down, died after suffering fatal injuries from a fall while trying to escape the armed thieves who invaded his apartment in the early hours of Tuesday.

The reports of the eyewitnesses revealed that the band, which counted about 15, stormed unique apartments, plot 1706 katami, at about 2:30, killing a supervisory guard who resisted them and if denying four more.

Speaking of the accident, a survivor vigilante said that the deceased is still panic and jumped from his apartment with a bedroom on the second floor while armed men were unleashed.

He rejected the rumors that police officers refused to transport it to the hospital because they missed fuel.

According to him, one of the residents had already brought him to his car when he met policemen at the gate. “The officers followed him to the hospital, but unfortunately he could not survive the wounds,” he explained.

A neighbor who spoke in anonymity conditions added: “If not for the cemented hard floor, it could have survived. Nobody can say with certainty which part of his body hit the ground, but the impact was devastating”.

The attack lasted for almost 90 minutes, leaving the tenants terrified and triggering concerns for safety in higher parts of the territory of the federal capital. Following the accident, all the vigilantes attached to the property have been replaced.

The premature death of Maduagwu has thrown the media industry in mourning, with colleagues and spectators who describe it as a nascent star whose career has been interrupted by the worsening of Nigeria.
