Kano Pillars Football Club has condemned the unruly conduct of some fans following their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday eight clash against Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), which ended 1-1 at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.
In an official statement released by the club’s media and communications directorate on Sunday, Kano Pillars described the incident as “unfortunate” and attributed it to the actions of some wrong people who attempted to cause disturbances after the final whistle.
The club, however, praised the prompt intervention of security officers and stewards, who helped restore order and prevent the situation from escalating.
“We are pleased to confirm that the players of both teams and the match officials left the stadium and its surroundings unharmed and safely escorted by security officers,” the statement read.
Kano Pillars also confirmed that several perpetrators have been arrested and handed over to security agencies for further investigation and prosecution.
As part of internal disciplinary measures, the club announced that all identified troublemakers will be banned from entering the Sani Abacha Stadium for the next ten seasons.
“Kano Pillars FC will fully cooperate with the authorities to ensure that any individual found guilty faces the full wrath of the law,” the statement added.
The management reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, discipline and a conducive footballing environment in line with the regulations of the NPFL and the Nigerian Football Federation, urging fans to continue supporting the team in a peaceful and responsible manner.
