Senate Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, has been appointed to lead the 57-member Ekiti State APC 2026 Governorship Campaign Council.
The list of 57 members of the Campaign Council was released on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti in a statement signed by the Ekiti State APC Chairman, Barrister Sola Elesin.
The list included prominent figures, leaders and party stakeholders in the 16 local government areas, including the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, four former deputy governors of the state, serving and former members of the National Assembly, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, as well as representatives of Egbe Afenifere, APC Elders Forum, youth and students bodies and chairmen of local government parties, among others.
According to the release, Attorney Elesin will serve as vice chair of the campaign council, while the governor’s chief of staff, Niyi Adebayo, will serve as secretary.
The inauguration of the Countryside Council is scheduled for Monday, March 9, 2026 at 11am at the APC State Secretariat, Ajilosun Street, Ado-Ekiti.
Likewise, the party has also constituted an advisory council which will be chaired by the first civilian governor of the state, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, and co-chaired by other former governors of the state.
The establishment of the Campaign Council and Advisory Council clearly indicates the readiness of the APC to officially commence campaign activities across the State aimed at ensuring that the current governor of the State and candidate of the party, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO), is re-elected for a second term in the June 20, 2026 governorship election.
Meanwhile, the APC leadership in the state has initiated a state-level awareness visit to all local government areas ahead of the commencement of the full campaign, slated to begin after the ongoing Ramadan and Lent fasting.
