Russia’s ambassador to the UK has denied that poison dart frogs were used to kill opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
Keep talking Sunday Morning with Trevor PhillipsAndrey Kevin said her death had “nothing to do with us”.
Mr Navy47, killed while imprisoned in a Russian penal colony in 2024.
At the Munich Security Conference earlier this year, the UK, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands claiming he had been poisoned with a deadly poison found in the skin of the Ecuadorian dart frog.
They claim the “barbaric” act – using a nerve agent classed as a chemical weapon – could only have been carried out by Vladimir Putin’s government.
Responding to the accusations, Kevin said: “Do you think this frog is from South America, please tell me?”
He then claimed there were “six places” in London where synthetic versions of the poison could be bought.
Also speaking on Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips, Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper said Kevin was wrong.
Russia had the “means and motive” to kill Navalny, he claimed
Cooper added that “clear evidence” points to Russian involvement – which is why Britain, along with other countries, blamed Moscow for Navalny’s death.
Sky News understands it is likely the poison that killed him was produced in a laboratory and not taken from a dart frog.
It is not clear how the toad poison – called epibatidine – was allegedly administered to Navalny, who was in a penal colony in Siberia when he died almost exactly two years ago.

Why Navalny’s announcement was deliberately timed
Native tribes in South America are said to have used the poison in arrows or blowguns when they hunted.
The poison – described as “one of the world’s deadliest” – is 200 times more potent than morphine. This causes paralysis, difficulty breathing and death.
Speaking to Trevor Philips, Kevin also claimed Russia was on Tehran’s side in the war against the US and Israel.
He said: “We are not neutral. It cannot be neutral. Of course we support Iran. And we consider, as I have said, very negatively what is being done.”
