Iran proposes seven-day plan to reopen Strait of Hormuz

Iran has presented a plan to the United States to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said.
Araghchi told American journalists on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly that he had proposed a seven-day plan.
He stated: “We have presented to the United States, through intermediaries, a plan according to which, if certain conditions are met, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened at the end of the seventh day and talks will resume.”
He declined to elaborate on the conditions but said they were “nothing more” than what the two countries agreed to in June.
The proposal was delivered to the United States through a broker, the New York Times and CNN reported.
A White House official told CNN they were having “positive and constructive discussions through mediators.”
Representatives of the United States and Iran held talks on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, the first such negotiations in months.
Iranian state media reported that Araghchi would communicate Tehran’s conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
This also includes the immediate lifting of the US naval blockade off the coast of Iran, the release of all frozen Iranian assets, and an end to the war on all fronts.

Control of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for global shipments of oil and liquefied natural gas, remains one of the central disputes between Washington and Tehran.
