In a bid to protect the lives and properties of residents of Ikole West in Ekiti State, the Chairman of the Local Council Development Area, Hon. Mrs Mosunmola Adeyemo has empowered security agencies in the area.

No fewer than 100 local traditional hunters were on Monday given various safety gears at the LCDA headquarters in Ikole, including uniforms, torches and rain boots to enhance their work.

Other security bodies, including the Nigerian Police, DSS, NSCDC, FRSC, NDLEA, Peace Corps, Amotekun, among others, have received support through cash gifts.

Speaking at the brief ceremony, the LCDA Chairman said the initiative is intended to complement the efforts of the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, to ensure the safety of Ekiti communities.

Adeyemo, who appreciated the security agencies for their efforts in carrying out their duties effectively, urged them to work harmoniously towards a safer LCDA Ikole West.

Responding, the Ikole Divisional Police Officer, CSP Afe Mayowa, commended the President for his magnanimity and pledged his total commitment in carrying out his duties.

Likewise, the leader of local traditional hunters in the area, Emmanuel Oguntoye, wholeheartedly promised to carry out their duties effectively, saying the initiative will further improve their jobs.

Security agencies together with LCCA administrators embarked on a bush clearing exercise while the event attracted dignitaries such as the Obaloke of Igbona Ekiti, Oba Johnson Adeyemi.
