Kogi Remodels LGEA Demonstration Nursery/Primary School, Onyunkoko – THISAGE

By Joseph Amedu, Lokoja

The Kogi State Government has expressed satisfaction over the successful renovation of the LGEA Demonstration Nursery/Primary School, Onyunkoko in Okene Local Government Area, describing the project as another clear demonstration of the Ododo administration’s commitment to providing a modern and stimulating learning environment for pupils across the state.

The state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, who disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Lokoja, Thursday, noted that the administration of Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo remains committed to consolidating the educational infrastructure gains recorded by the erstwhile administration.

According to him, the newly renovated school reflects the government’s broader policy of structural standardization in public schools across Kogi State, aimed at ensuring that pupils learn in safe, beautiful and conducive environments.

Fanwo explained that Governor Ododo, being a proud product of public schools, is passionate about restoring public confidence in the state’s education system through deliberate investments in infrastructure and learning facilities.

“Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo understands the importance of a dignified learning environment because he himself is a product of public schools. His administration is determined to restore parents’ confidence in public education across the State,” he said.

He added that the renovation of the LGEA Demonstration Nursery/Primary School, Onyunkoko, is part of a larger statewide effort, as many other schools are currently undergoing similar upgrades in line with the administration’s commitment to reposition the education sector.

While stressing that the Government has already introduced free education for pupils and students in public schools and scholarship support for students in tertiary institutions, the Commissioner stressed that such policies must be complemented by quality learning infrastructure.

“Providing free education in dilapidated facilities would do a disservice to our future leaders. That is why government is constantly working to restore the old glorious days when public schools in Kogi State were known for their beauty, orderliness and conducive learning atmosphere,” he said.

Fanwo acknowledged that some school facilities across the state have suffered years of neglect, resulting in aging and deterioration of the facilities. However, he assured that the current administration addresses the challenge in a systematic manner.

“Governor Ododo has never denied the reality that some of our educational facilities are old and dilapidated due to decades of neglect. What the administration is doing now is to restore them systematically, touching as many schools as the available resources can support,” he explained.

He noted that the transformation of the LGEA Demonstration Nursery/Primary School, Onyunkoko, is evident in the contrast between the old and newly renovated facilities, which now bear witness to the government’s commitment to revitalizing public education in the state.

“The pictures of the school before and after the renovation clearly tell the story of what a focused and committed government can achieve in education. More importantly, the smiles on the pupils’ faces reflect their enthusiasm and renewed pride in their school,” he added.

The Commissioner assured the people of the State that Governor Ododo will continue to deliver on the mandate given to him by Kogites, especially strengthening the education sector as a foundation for sustainable development.

He reaffirmed that the administration will remain steadfast in its efforts to ensure that every child in Kogi State has access not only to free education but also to a dignified and nurturing learning environment.
