NSITF washes hands of fake recruitment scam

The Nigeria Social Security Trust Fund (NSITF) has raised the alarm over the circulation of fake job advertisements and appointment letters used by scammers to deceive the public.

The Executive Director of the Administration, Samaila Abdu, in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja said the NSITF is not currently recruiting for any positions.

Abdu said job advertisements circulating on social media, particularly Facebook, allegedly posted by the Fund, were fake.

It said the fraudulent advertisements were part of a growing trend involving individuals and groups falsely claiming to represent the NSITF in recruitment activities.

Abdu said the Fund does not charge any commission for employment and does not recruit through unofficial social media platforms or channels.

It said all real job opportunities will be communicated through its official channels.

According to him, members of the public who encounter suspicious recruitment advertisements avoid responding and reporting them to the relevant NSITF authorities.

“NSITF management has directed all regional and branch managers to prominently display the public notice at strategic locations within their offices.

“The directive covers reception areas, main entrances and exits, noticeboards, SERVICOM counters and other places accessible to staff and members of the public,” he said.

He said the notice should be displayed to ensure members of the public are informed and protected from fraudulent recruitment activity.

Abdu urged job seekers to exercise caution and verify every employment request through the Fund’s official communication channels before taking any action.
