President Bola Tinubu has directed security chiefs to move to Maiduguri to take charge of the security situation following Monday’s attack in Borno State.
Tinubu, in a statement issued on Tuesday by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the directive was part of immediate steps to strengthen coordination and intensify ongoing operations against terrorist elements threatening peace and stability in the North East.
“In addition, I have directed the security chief to move to Maiduguri to control the situation,” he said.
The President also directed emergency response agencies to provide adequate medical care and support to victims injured as a result of the attack.

“I have also directed emergency agencies to provide appropriate treatment to the injured.”
Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing the development as disturbing and painful, while also conveying his condolences to the families of the victims and solidarity with the people of Borno.
“The recent news from Maiduguri, Borno State, is very sad. I mourn those who lost their lives and sympathize with those who were injured,” added President Tinubu.
Suspected Boko Haram insurgents on Monday killed a number of people in attacks in the North Eastern state.
