Meet the man favorite to be the new interim president of the NFF, the NSC meets with FIFA

The presidency has chosen a new boss to lead the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) as interim president and head of the normalization committee according to what we exclusively gather.

The NFF board of directors was dissolved following the mass resignation led by the president of the football federation, Ibrahim Musa Gusau. It opened the door to the creation of a normalization committee that will manage football in the country for three months.

OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal that a Senior Advocate for Nigeria (SAN) in AbdulHakeem Uthman Mustapha is the choice of most power brokers in the presidency.

Our checks of his profile on Nigerian website Sports Village Square revealed that Mustapha is a member of FIFA’s Anti-Racism and Anti-Discrimination Committee, a position that gives him direct exposure to world football’s governing body and its administrative framework.

He also previously served as Chairman of the CAF Appeal Committee, placing him among Nigerians with substantial experience in the legal and judicial structures of African football.

Its international football credentials could prove particularly important if the proposed normalization process is expected to enjoy the confidence of FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

He was chosen ahead of an experienced South South administrator, whose candidacy was supported by FCT minister Nyesom Wike, but not as popular with the National Sports Commission (NSC) leadership.

Meanwhile, senior NSC officials are in talks with FIFA to complete the formal process of setting up the committee, which will usher in a new direction for Nigerian football after the four-year failures under Gusau.
