Tsangaya Union empowers 200 Almajiri in Nasarawa

The Union of Qur’anic Reciters in Tsangaya, Nasarawa State, has equipped 200 Almajiris with various startup tools and financial assistance as part of efforts to promote self-reliance and improve their socio-economic well-being.

Speaking on the initiative, on Sunday in Lafia, President of the Union, Gwani Ahmad Isa Gwani, said the program was designed to integrate Qur’anic education with economic empowerment.

He explained that the initiative would provide the Almajiris with a practical means of livelihood after completing Qur’anic studies, while reducing dependency and promoting the dignity of work.

According to him, the goal was not simply to provide immediate assistance, but to build a culture of self-reliance, legitimate earnings and economic independence among young students of the Quran.

Gwani called on government agencies, traditional rulers, individuals and organizations to support similar initiatives, stressing that sustainable empowerment would improve the well-being of the Almajiri and further strengthen the role of Qur’anic education in community development.

The President of the Lafia Municipal Council, Hon. Mohammed Haliru Arabo, praised the Union for initiating the empowerment programme.

He described the initiative as a commendable effort aimed at improving the socio-economic well-being of Almajiris, stressing that the startup tools and financial support would enable the beneficiaries to become productive and self-reliant after their Qur’anic education.

He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the assets and financial assistance provided to set up sustainable businesses and improve their livelihoods.

Meanwhile, the Nasarawa State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Aliyu Bello, has pledged to facilitate the professional training of 100 Almajiris at the Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Professional Training Centre.

Describe vocational education as an important avenue for equipping young people with practical skills and creating opportunities for economic independence.

Also speaking, the Emir of Lafia and Chairman of Nasarawa State Council Sidi Mohammed Bage I, JSC (Rtd.), represented by the Makungujin Lafia, Hassan Wakili, described the program as timely and commendable.
