D’Tigress head coach Rena Wakama has said her team will be ready to compete at the FIBA Women’s World Cup 2026 in Berlin, Germany.
The African champions lost their last match to Germany in the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament on Tuesday.
D’Tigress finished the tournament with two wins and three narrow losses against South Korea, hosts France and European giants Germany.

Wakama said she is proud of her team and what the Lyon tournament offered her girls in preparation for the main event in September.
He added that although they had already qualified for the world cup, they still had to put in a competitive performance throughout the tournament and lessons had been learned in order to improve the team.
“We were competitive throughout the tournament and learned together, especially in the games we lost.
“Looking ahead to the World Cup, we have to start games better and make better decisions on the pitch in critical moments. So we will go back and analyze the games more and focus more on our energy.”
