Lagos task force rejects bribery allegations

The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offenses Enforcement Unit (Task Force) has dismissed allegations of bribery in the media as false.

An online platform reported that task force officers towed a vehicle in Ijesha area of the state and demanded a bribe of N250,000 for its release.

The agency’s spokesperson, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, in a statement on Wednesday evening said officials had not towed any vehicles from the Ijesha area to the Alausa yard.

Abdulraheem described the report as misleading and malicious.

He said: “The owner of the vehicle confirmed that the vehicle was not in the custody of the task force but was elsewhere.”

He alleged that the report was part of a broader effort to discredit the agency and pressure it to compromise its law enforcement activities.
