The incident came just weeks after deadly attacks in nearby communities, which prompted a high-level response from the federal government.

In February, Vice President Kashim Shettima led a delegation to Kaiama Local Government Area to sympathize with the victims of the terrorist attacks in Nuku and Woro, assuring residents of renewed efforts to restore peace.

During the visit, Shettima conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to the stabilization of the region, announcing the deployment of a battalion of the Nigerian Army and emergency support through the National Emergency Management Agency in collaboration with the state government. Local authorities, including Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, confirmed that security forces had already been mobilized as part of Operation Savannah Shield.

Monday’s explosion has heightened fears among residents, casting doubt on the effectiveness of recent security interventions and underscoring the fragile state of peace in the affected communities. [Arise News]
