Vice President Kashim Shettima on Tuesday reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to fighting terrorism in Zamfara State.
Shettima conveyed this assurance to Gusau, while officially welcoming Governor Lawal Dauda into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said the federal government would deploy adequate security personnel and equipment to tackle insecurity in the North-West state.
He congratulated Lawal on joining the APC and assured him of the support of the federal government in the state’s development efforts.

“The federal government will do everything possible to get rid of the marauding bandits who have been terrorizing the people of the state.
“We will provide necessary assistance and support to Governor Dauda Lawal to continue the good work he has started.”
“I call on the good people of this country to re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Dauda Lawal in the 2027 elections,” said the Vice President.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, announced his withdrawal from the 2027 gubernatorial race.
“I have given up my intention to run for governor, and with all my heart I will help my brother, Governor Dauda Lawal, to be re-elected in 2027,” said the former governor at the event.
In his speech, Lawal promised to continue development programs in his country.
He thanked APC stakeholders in the state for supporting his switch to the party.
