Justice Rilwanu Aikawa of the Federal High Court, Kaduna, on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of the bail application filed by former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, until March 31.
The judge set the date after hearing arguments from the defense and prosecutors on Tuesday.
El-Rufai was indicted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) on 10 counts of conversion of public property and money laundering.
However, the former governor pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Defense counsel, Ukpon Akpan, had previously urged the court to grant bail to his client so that he can prepare his defence.
However, the prosecutor, Osuobeni Akponimisingha, opposed the application and argued that granting bail could compromise the ongoing investigation.
Following the submission, the judge adjourned the matter to March 31 to hear the bail application and ordered that the accused remain in ICPC custody.
