Convention: APC candidate rejects report of his suspension

An aspiring member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention, Fubara Dagogo, has dismissed reports of his alleged suspension by his ward executive committee in Rivers State.

Reports emerged on Friday that Dagogo was suspended by APC leaders in Ward 4, Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers following his legal action against the party.

The committee accused him of serious violations and anti-party activities.

Dagogo, in his complaint, asked Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Abuja, to annul the results of the APC national congress for the position of Deputy National Chairman, South-South, without his physical participation.

The plaintiff alleged that he was unlawfully excluded from the nomination for Deputy National Chairman, South-South, despite having paid ₦5.1 million for the expression of interest and nomination form.

Dagogo, who appeared in court on Friday with his lawyer, described his suspension from the party as “not right.”

In a conversation with journalists, the aggrieved candidate asked for this information.

“How do you react to the issue of your suspension by your party,” asked the journalists.

“Which party? “You mean my party? Depends? I’m sorry, they didn’t talk to me,” he replied.

“I believe that people who carry out suspensions need to receive good guidance.

“I know very well that the action intended is not for me and whatever action is taken is expected to violate the provisions of the constitution.

“I believe that if the executive wants to take a decision, they should use all party mechanisms in accordance with the party constitution and ensure that someone’s suspension complies with the law.

“At the moment, the suspension is not for me because we have a lot of Fubara and Dagogo.

“Some people will say I am related to Dagogo Jack, some people will say I am related to Siminalayi Fubara, but I am very sure that training is not for me.

“So I still remain a bona fide, founding member of the APC. I still remain an important stakeholder of this party.

“I still remain the founder of Mr. President’s new hope and an ally of this party’s legacy.”
