Nasarawa government official collapses and dies in office

The Nasarawa State Government has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of the Head of Operations, State Operations Coordination Unit, Yakubu Akuki Ogalebe, who reportedly collapsed in his office in Lafia.

Ogalebe, a former sole administrator of the Agwada Area Administrative Council, is said to have died on Friday afternoon, March 27, 2026, after collapsing while on duty.

State civil service sources told PLATFORM TIMES that the incident caused panic among colleagues, who immediately rushed to his aid.

Despite attempts to revive him, he was confirmed dead shortly afterwards.

His sudden death sent shockwaves through the state’s public service, particularly among officials familiar with his active role in coordinating government programs.

Until his passing, Ogalebe served as the head of operations at the State Operations Coordination Unit, a key agency established in 2016 to manage the development of the single social register for poor and vulnerable families.

The registry serves as a fundamental tool for the implementation of social intervention programs and targeted distribution of welfare across the State.

Colleagues and associates have since paid tribute to the late official, describing him as a dedicated public servant who contributed significantly to grassroots governance and social development initiatives.

At the time of filing this report, the Nasarawa State Government had not yet released an official statement on the incident.
