Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has criticized the Labor Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, Peter Obi.
He also criticized the governor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who defected from the opposition party after the crisis hit the party.
Wike, while speaking at the PDP national convention held at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja said Obi and former PDP governors did not show leadership traits by leaving the party during the crisis.
However, the FCT Minister did not name them.

“A former presidential candidate from the Labor Party who wanted to become president and was given a platform. If there was a crisis in the party, that’s when he showed leadership, but he ran away because he couldn’t solve the problem.
Some governors who defected from the PDP have also shown that they lack leadership qualities. “I would liken them to the former Labor candidate,” he said.
Delegates from Kebbi, Ekiti, Bauchi and several other states led the charge at the 2026 PDP National Convention, which Wike supported.
The party announced 19 new members of the National Working Committee at the event.
