Victor Boniface has taken an important step in his recovery process after returning to ball training after a long period of absence due to injury.
The Nigerian international underwent surgery in January after suffering the injury during a training session and has now spent more than 200 days working to return to fitness.
Boniface expressed his joy at returning to the playing fields and his desire to contribute before the season ends.
“I’m very happy to be back. Three months later I’ll be back looking forward to what we can achieve at the end of the season,” he said.
Boniface, currently on loan at Werder Bremen, has featured in 11 games this season, with just two starts, largely due to health issues.
His time on the field has been limited and the recurring nature of his injuries has continued to influence his development and consistency.
Over the years, Boniface has dealt with several serious physical issues, including two cruciate ligament tears during the 2018-2019 and 2020-2021 seasons, along with a major adductor issue in the 2023-2024 campaign.

These issues have caused him to miss more than 90 games, highlighting a difficult pattern that has disrupted his progress at key moments in his career.
With just seven games remaining in the current campaign, uncertainty remains over whether he will play for Werder Bremen again before the season ends.
Despite the time constraint, Boniface is striving to quickly regain full match fitness in the hope of rejoining the team on the field and making a significant contribution before the final whistle of the season.
