Felix Morka: the voice, the facts and the defense of a great political movement

In Nigeria’s contemporary political landscape, where public communication has become one of the most important tools of political engagement, few personalities have excelled in the art of advocacy and political communication as Barrister Felix Morka, CON, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC). A lawyer, human rights advocate, urban development and political specialist, Morka has become one of the ruling party’s most recognizable public faces. He is a man who understands that advocating for a political party is not simply about speaking out loud, but about presenting arguments, explaining policies, addressing criticism and bringing the party’s message to Nigerians with confidence and intellectual depth. The APC itself describes him as a human rights lawyer, urban development and political expert, while noting that he holds an LL.B. from the University of Jos and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School.

Felix Morka’s background makes his emergence as a powerful political communicator particularly significant. Before entering partisan politics, he accumulated extensive experience in the defense of human rights and civil society. He was associated with the Civil Liberties Organization and founded the Social and Economic Rights Action Center, SERAC, an organization known for its work on social and economic rights. His professional experience has also extended to international human rights engagements, including work related to United Nations initiatives. He doesn’t just repeat slogans; attempts to build a case for the party’s position. That’s why his appearances on national television have made him a familiar face to Nigerians who follow political programs and current affairs. His public engagements have covered some of the most controversial issues surrounding the APC, the Tinubu administration and the political direction of the country.

There is also an important dimension to Morka’s communication style: preparation. A man with a legal background naturally understands the importance of facts, evidence and building an argument. His defenders see this as one of his greatest strengths. When faced with criticism of the APC, it is usually prepared to address the substance of the issue rather than withdraw from the discussion. Be it the economy, governance, opposition politics, electoral issues or the APC’s prospects before 2027, Morka has consistently projected himself as a spokesperson ready to defend the political platform he represents. In a 2026 interview, for example, he addressed questions regarding the 2027 presidential election, opposition figures, and the APC’s performance and prospects, demonstrating once again the central role it plays in shaping the party’s public narrative.

Morka’s recognition was not limited to party circles. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in a 2026 birthday message, described him as a human rights defender with vast experience in civil society and praised the strategic communications experience he brings to interpreting and explaining the APC manifesto. The President also praised the maturity and wisdom that Morka brings to his role and his contribution to internal and external communications. In a previous birthday message in 2024, the Presidency described him as a human rights lawyer, urban development specialist and founder of SERAC, praising the brilliance and poise with which he approaches critical issues.

In addition to his role as spokesperson for the APC, Morka also held a significant national institutional position as the Chairman of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA. This responsibility places him within the broader architecture of the Nigerian media and public communications environment. It is therefore no surprise that he has found himself so comfortable in the television space. His ability to communicate complex policy positions in an environment where questions are often spontaneous and confrontational has helped him become one of the country’s most visible political spokesmen.

His story is also a story of transition. From human rights advocacy and civil society activism to partisan politics and national political communication, Felix Morka has traveled across different dimensions of public service. Some may disagree with his or her political positions, as is normal in a democracy, but disagreement with a politician’s ideology should not prevent society from recognizing professional competence. Morka represents a generation of Nigerians who have moved from engagement in civil society to formal political structures, bringing with them knowledge of law, governance, development and public defence.

For me, lawyer Felix Morka, CON, represents more than the title of National Publicity Secretary. It represents the importance of having people who can stand in front of cameras, engage in difficult conversations, and defend a political position without fear. In an age where political communication can easily descend into insults, misinformation, and emotional exchanges, the presence of a qualified attorney and seasoned public relations professional at the microphone is significant. His strength lies not simply in his willingness to defend the APC, but in his ability to argue the defense.

His award of the national honor of Commander of the Order of the Niger, CON, in 2025, further added to a career that has already spanned human rights advocacy, development work, media communications and partisan politics. The honor, coming after decades of public commitment, provides another chapter in the story of a man whose professional path has taken him from the defense of civil liberties to the center of national political communication.

Lawyer Felix Morka is therefore a man whose public career deserves serious attention. He is a lawyer who understands arguments, an advocate who understands public communication, a development specialist who understands politics, and a politician who understands the importance of defending his organization. On television, in press conferences, in interviews and through public statements, he has become one of the voices through which Nigerians encounter the APC’s response to the problems of the day. Whether one agrees with every position one takes is a matter of individual political judgment. What is hard to ignore, however, is the energy, confidence and intellectual preparation he brings to the national debate.

At a time when Nigeria needs articulate voices who can address national issues with knowledge, confidence and responsibility, Felix Morka has established himself as a leading figure in the country’s political communications space. He took the APC’s message from the party secretariat to television studios, newspapers, national debates and international conversations. For his supporters he is more than a spokesperson for the party; he is a vigorous defender of the political movement he represents and a proud son of Nigeria whose professional journey has earned him recognition at home and abroad. Attorney Felix Morka, CON, has indeed become a voice that doesn’t back down when questions get tough, a voice that answers with facts, and a voice that continues to stand up for what he believes.
