The Kano State House of Assembly has withdrawn its notice of impeachment against former Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdulsalam, following his voluntary resignation.
The decision follows a motion tabled by the Majority Leader, Lawan Hussaini, in the plenary session presided over by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Jibril Isma’il, on Tuesday in Kano.
Speaking to journalists after the hearing, Hussaini said the DPR had withdrawn all charges against Abduraham so that the matter could be resolved.
“We will not continue this violation because our role is only limited to dismissing officials if they are proven guilty.

“Since he has resigned voluntarily, how do we continue? We are not the EFCC or ICPC, our mandate has been fulfilled,” he said.
Hussaini noted the notice of impeachment was issued in accordance with Article 188 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).
The impeachment process, which began on March 5, follows allegations of gross misconduct, abuse of office and breach of public trust during Abdulsalam’s term as Commissioner for Regional Government Affairs in 2023-2024.
