EFCC arrests woman for naira harassment in Borno

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a woman for alleged abuse of Naira in Maiduguri, Borno State.

EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

Oyewale said the suspect was arrested on Tuesday after he was seen in a video mutilating his currency.

”The suspect was arrested following a video circulating on TikTok that went viral, where he was seen cleaning mucus from his nose with a N500 Naira note.

”After the video was released, commission officials tracked and arrested him in the Maiduguri metropolitan area.

“The suspect is currently detained at the Maiduguri Prison and investigations are still ongoing,” Oyewale said.

He said the suspect would be charged to court at the end of the investigation
