Boko Haram terrorists kill military officers, 17 soldiers in Borno

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have killed a senior military officer and 17 soldiers at a military base in Borno State.

The military members were killed in an overnight attack on a base in Benisheikh, about 75 kilometers from Maiduguri, the state capital.

Kaga Local Government Chairperson, Zannah Lawan Ajimi, confirmed the incident to journalists on Thursday in Maiduguri.

This is the second killing of a senior officer in five months.

“Unfortunately, Brigade Commander Brigadier General OO Braimah lost his life,” he said.

Borno State is the center of the Boko Haram insurgency with around 10,000 people killed and more than two million displaced by the insurgency since 2011.
