Hajj 2027: Kebbi registers 3,257 pilgrims, remits $2.5 billion to NAHCON

The Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency (KSPWA) has registered 3,257 pilgrims intending for the 2027 pilgrimage. The figure, 95% of the number allocated to the State, is higher than any other State in the federation.

So far, the agency has remitted $2.5 billion for Hajj to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), in preparation for the spiritual exercise in Saudi Arabia.

KSPWA Executive Chairman, Faruk Aliyu Yaro Enabo, gave the statistics, when a NAHCON delegation paid a courtesy visit to Governor Nasir Idris at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, on Wednesday.

Enabo said Kebbi will make the final payment of $5 billion to NAHCON within the next few days to meet the September 26, 2026 deadline for closing registration set by Saudi Arabian authorities.

“Kebbi State Pilgrim Welfare Agency has achieved 95% registration of intending pilgrims and 85% remittance of Hajj fees to NAHCON.

“We advise remaining pilgrims who have made individual deposits of 5 million naira to expedite the completion of payment, while others with passport documentation should normalize the process.

“Similarly, medical screening of prospective pilgrims is underway, conducted at the local government level, which will progress to the zonal level and Hajj camp.

“This is done in strict compliance with Saudi health care provisions, which detail nine diseases that every pilgrim intending to examine must be examined, in order to ensure that no pilgrim is affected, which could result in disqualification from entering the Holy Land.

“Last year Kebbi recorded the least number of cases – around 6 pilgrims – while some states recorded 50 cases.”
