Lagos mash-up creator Wilcoxx continues a collection built around editing familiar Afrobeat recordings with “Forgiveness Mashup,” his take on Asake’s “Forgiveness.”

The mash-up retains the recognizable vocal material of Asake’s song but places it within Wilcoxx’s reinterpretative framework. This follows last August’s “treat you right” mashup, which further signaled his commitment to reinterpreting established records.

Wilcoxx comes to the track as the mashup engineer and producer who, through arrangement and vocal placement, gives the familiar material a distinct presentation. The result remains firmly anchored to Afrosounds, but is more of a creative remake than a typical cover.
