Congress: ADC elects new officials in Nasarawa


The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Nasarawa State has elected its new state officials to lead the affairs of the party for the next four years.

The elections were held in Lafia on Saturday, through a consensus agreement ratified by delegates from all 13 local government areas (LGAs) of the state.

Mr John Michael-Abdul emerged as the new state president, other executive members including vice-president, secretary, treasurer, publicity secretary and female leader, zonal officers for Nasarawa North, Nasarawa South and Nasarawa West senatorial districts respectively were also elected.

In his acceptance speech, new President Michael-Abdul, a former deputy governor of Nasarawa State, pledged to reposition the ADC as a credible alternative in state politics.

He said they will focus on grassroots mobilization, internal democracy and issue-based engagement throughout the election period and beyond.

He said officials will chalk out a comprehensive work plan in the next 30 days to strengthen the party in the 147 constituencies, 13 LGAs and the state.

The President, therefore, expressed optimism that the party would take control of the country and the state from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

The speaker is outgoing ADC President Barr. Paul Magaji, expressed gratitude to members for the opportunity to serve the party and appealed for the same support to be extended to new leaders.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Congress Committee, Mr. Kani Jibarang,
he described the process as peaceful and transparent, stressing that all seats were filled without rancor.
