The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has rejected reports of internal strife, insisting that allegations of mass defections and unpaid delegates are baseless and politically motivated.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the State Publicity Secretary, Uche Obute, described the claims as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and undermine the party’s growing influence in the state.
He characterized the reports as “false narratives” and further dismissed them as “fabricated stories” aimed at diverting the party’s attention from its preparations for the 2027 elections.
Obute stated that there were no complaints from delegates regarding allowances following the party’s recent national convention, contrary to reports circulating.
Responding to claims that some members were leaving the party due to alleged marginalization, the APC insisted that Governor Peter Mbah’s administration was actually strengthening its foothold in the state.
According to the party, Enugu has effectively become a stronghold, with key political office holders aligned with its structure, including members of the National and State Assemblies as well as local government leaders in all 17 councils.
Highlighting the party’s internal cohesion, the statement stated, “The governor is widely known for his inclusive leadership style, bringing along members of the old APC bloc and newcomers into the party.”

The party also expressed concern regarding the position of its old members, stating that individuals from the “old bloc” continued to hold strategic roles. The report cited figures such as Oby Ajih and Ben Nwoye as examples.
Reaffirming its inclusive structure, the statement added, “Both the old and new blocs are fully accommodated at all levels of the party leadership, from district level to local government areas and state structures.”
The party further emphasized its unity under the leadership of state chairman Martin Chukwunweike, and urged its members and the public to ignore what they described as misleading reports.
The report concluded by expressing confidence that no amount of “sponsored misinformation” would derail his momentum or ambition to consolidate political dominance in the state ahead of the upcoming elections.
