Pastor sentenced to life in prison for raping church member’s daughter

Judge Rahman Oshodi of the Lagos Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence Court, Ikeja, on Thursday sentenced a 63-year-old pastor, Chris Mcdouglas, to life imprisonment for raping the 18-year-old daughter of a member of his church.

The judge sentenced Mcdouglas, a pastor at the Queer Generation Assembly Church, Lagos, to life imprisonment after he was found guilty of rape.

However, he fired him on six of the nine charges, due to allegations of defamation, sexual harassment and indecent treatment of a child brought against him by the Lagos State government.

Oshodi, in his assessment, assessed that the prosecutor had succeeded in proving the rape accusation against the priest.

He described the offense as a gross betrayal of trust that left the victim with lasting psychological trauma.

The judge found that the cleric, considered by his congregation to be a “spiritual father,” exploited his authority to sexually abuse the victim.

According to him, the abuse was not an isolated incident but part of a pattern of manipulation and coercion.
