The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the assumption of office of a Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ondo State, Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke.
This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday in Akure by Mrs Adenike Tadese, Administrative Secretary of INEC in the state.
The statement said Agboke resumed the role of the 21st REC in the state and replaced Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, who was transferred to Osun.
According to the statement, Agboke, a seasoned legal scholar and election management expert from Abeokuta, Ogun, was called to the Nigerian Bar Association in 2006.
It is also stated that the REC was a member of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) between 2012 and 2016.
“He served as REC in Ondo, Oyo and Osun states where he oversaw the 2019 and 2023 general elections. He is known for integrity, transparency and professionalism.
“The commission expresses confidence in its ability to strengthen electoral integrity and organize credible, free and fair elections in Ondo State,” the statement read. (NAN)
