Nigerian Navy and Denmark forge stronger alliance to tackle crime in Gulf of Guinea


Nigeria and Denmark have stepped up joint efforts to combat piracy, oil theft and other maritime crimes in the Gulf of Guinea.
This follows a high-level visit by a Danish Defense delegation to the Western Naval Command in Lagos.

Delegation leader Marie van der Heijden reiterated Denmark’s support through training programs, technical assistance and advice to enhance regional maritime capacity.

Flag Officer Commanding, Rear Admiral Abubakar Abdullahi Mustapha, speaking on behalf of the Chief of Naval Staff, said the Nigerian Navy remains committed to leveraging technology, intelligence sharing and coordinated operations with global partners to protect vital sea lanes.
Both sides also explored joint exercises, personnel exchanges and logistical support to strengthen interoperability, underscoring a shared desire to safeguard the region’s maritime domain.
